What Freddie doesn't seem to understand is that you can't just write a
letter to a judge and become an Amici curiae. It is up to the court to
grant or deny permission to someone to act in this capacity.

But since we have to reason to believe those letters were ever even
really sent, I suppose it makes no difference.
