Nope, it was founded by George Fox, who had had enough of the hypocrisy
and
corruption of the Church (Chrurch of England, Catholicism) and wanted to
get
back to the point, ie, God.

Race of people? Quakers are not a _race_ of anything. Just people.

Despite your ill informed rhetoric, it is is an interesting article about
a
subject that may split the FGC from the rest of Quakerism.
Being pagan-friendly myself, I am happy to acknowledge that pagans are
also
God's children, made in Hir Image, are loved, and are equal to myself in
Godde's eyes. That they approach the divine from a different direction
does
not mean I should condemn them, heck, if that were the case, then every
relgion besides one own should be condemned as clearly it is 'wrong'.
I can see the author's point that welcoming those who are not Christian in
Quakerism is in one way threatening the very foundations Quakerism was
built
on, but in another way it is also the inevitable outcome of welcoming all
and acknowleding that all human beings have the Spirit of God within them.
Perhaps Quakerism therefore isn't so much a religion as a philsophy that
can
bring together people of different religions - again much like the UU does
-
by acknowleding everyone as equal among equals and not condemning those
who
are different 'to us'.
One of th ebig probelms with main stream Christianity, as I see it, is the
total dissmisal of other faiths not on any other grounds than simply
because
they 'aren't Christian', even if they have many of teachigns in common
with
Christianity. By condemning other faiths wholeheartedly, rather than
exmaining them, are we not also condemn those beliefs we hold in common? A
healthy, respectful dialogue, and learning, and being guided by God to
treat
everyone (and ourselves) as 'equally human' is surely what we are supposed
to be doing - and in that way, talking to, listening respecfully and
attentively, and *loving* Pagans is surely what Christ would have wanted
us
to do - that doesn't make us Pagans ourselves, but I think it woudl make
us
better people and indeed better Christians.
