Do the people you know in the UK actually listen
to one another?
My position on SRQ was well articulated years before you
arrived on the board. You just never read me carefully.
I do not agree with the deeply entrenched Protestant belief
that scripture is transparent, that God revealed it directly
to believers, without the need for intermediaries to interpret.
That idea arose in the Reformation, in order to break the
power of the corrupt priesthood. Every peasant at the plough
could read and understand the scriptures for himself. It's a
belief that goes with democracy, and of course is very
strong in the USA with its successful democracy.
Let the average person educate himself via the Internet with
sources based on the biblical scholars. In addition, there
are Bible Studies.
As for Jesus Christ, I have sung his praises for his brilliant
mind and for his compassion for the unclean cl*****
including women.
If your complaint is that my view takes away his divinity, I
plead guilty. Perhaps his divine seed, in something like
George Fox's sense, was far greater than any in history
except for a very elite few.
