Let's not get hung up on a foolish conformance to quakerism
as you see it on the issue of higher morality. The Friends
I knew for 28 years were naive in their peace testimony, not
bearing fruit for this noble ideal. Yet, I agree that none of them
believed in Heaven and Hell in the literal way you speak of.
That fa****on went out of style 2000 years ago.
I believe there is a distinction between appearance and reality.
The world we see around us is simply a reflection of some
higher, divine existence, of which the human soul/mind/spirit
is part.
