So there was this 'helping with life' course, lets say it was called
"Better
Parenting". It seemed to be *exactly* what I wanted, it was actually 3
courses of 1 year each, each dealing with a different stage of parenting
and
how to improve oneself as both a person, a partner and a parent. The
curriculum looked great, and the testimonies were wonderful. it said it
dealt with all the things inpeople's pasts that prevented them
fromreaching
their full potential as a person, partner and parent, and would help
re-build from those past hurts to make the person into thebest parent
possible. It fitted my needs perfectly, and it didn't bother me that it
was
run by a Christian organisation because after all, thats what Christians
want - right? Helping people to help themeselves and to help people raise
better, more stable kids in a loving and healthy environment, right?
I came >this< close to signing up, commiting myself to a year's worth and
paying the money (not cheap) when I found its original author's web page.
The course is *not* about 'Better Parenting' after all, buts about
"bringing
the unchurched to Christ". it states right there on its web page that
after
openihng up to Christan mentors, the course will slowly introduce the
Bible
and prayer and the need for being born again and having Christ as Saviour.
The 'better parenting' is just how they get the 'suckers' in.
Well, f*ck that, pardon my expression.
And they think they're better than the Scientologists who use *the very
same* deceptive tactics to get people to do their courses and brain wash
them into becoming Scientologists?????
I am *outraged*.
When did Jesus ever say that we are supposed to help people *as a guise*
to
converting them? What is wrong with just helping people, regardless
whether
they're Christians or not, regardless of whether they are likely to
convert
or not?
I'm utterly disgusted with this conversion by stealth, and wonder just how
many allegedly 'helpful' things have an alternate agenda?
Grrr,
Yowie
