noted candy manufacturer gave a tour of his factory leaving a young boy
and his grandfather holding the bag for the crimes he committed that
day.

La Candelaria (Mexico) / also known as Ladies' Day / Purification Day /
Cordova Ice Worm Day (Prince William Sound) Festival to celebrate the
big ice worm, which is actually an ice centipede. I guess people in
Cordova are hard up for entertainment.
Feb. 3 Powamu Festival (Hopi) A day for Kachinas dances and planting
beans in kivas / Scout Sunday (Scouting) / Heroes' Day (Mozambique) / On
this day Jane ****ter wrote to her friend Hazel about a swinging new guy
she had just met. _Tarzan of the Apes (1912.) / & Its Elmo' s Birthday,
of Sesame Street that is, and just who and where are it's parents?
Feb. 4 World Cancer Day / Happy Birthday Captain Marvel! It was 68
years ago in Whiz comics (no, really that was the name) that homeless
orphan Billy Batson followed a nameless man down into an abandoned
subway to meet an old man. (And it's amazing how well that foolish
decision turned out!) There he was given the power of Solomon, Hercules,
Atlas, Zeus, Achilles & Mercury whenever he said shazam. How Solomon got
in the mix I do not know.

Weatherperson's Day (U.S.)
Feb. 6 Ash Wednesday. / Waitangi Day (New Zealand) Commemorates the day
in 1840 that the British and a group of Maori chiefs signed the treaty
of Waitangi. / No Talk Day. A day to underline the im****tance of written
communication skills in schools. Might have a better chance of catching
on if they would call it something else, such as The Day of No Talking,
as No Talk Day is a sentence fragment, i.e. bad writing. / & The board
game Monopoly was introduced this day in 1935.
Feb. 7. Chinese New Year, Year of the Rat. / Sap****o Snow Festival
(Sap****o, Japan) / International Men's Day (Malta) So, since this is
only going on Malta, wouldn't a more proper name for it be Maltese Men's
Day?, and why do they need a special day in the first place anyway?
Feb. 8 Nirvana Day (Buddhist) Not the former band, its an annual
Buddhist festival. / Ha-Ri-Ku-Yo `Needle Funeral (Japan) A day for girls
to gather old and broken needles to dedicate them to the deity Awa****
Myozin, no needlework is to be done this day. (I have to wonder just how
much is done these days anyway.) / Kite Flying Day (Korea) No doubt in
"Axis of Evil" member nation North Korea they are flying Evil Kites.
Feb. 9 National DAV Day. DAV stands for Develop New Vices and this day
is dedicated to people changing their habits. / Scout Sabbath (Scouting)
/ Feast of St. Apollonia, patron saint of dentists & dental technicians.
Feb. 10 Gasparilla Day (Florida) I don't know, I just like the sound of
it. / It was on this day in 1286 B.C.E. that Herakles (Hercules) was
conceived. According to the myth Zeus eclipsed the sun so that he had
three full nights to do the deed. It would seem that the Greek sky God
had something against nooners. Herk was born later that year on Oct. 31
making him, it would seem, a preemie.
Feb. 11 Youth Day (Cameroon) / Victory of the Islamic Revolution Day
(Iran) / National Foundation Day (Japan) / Independence Day (Vatican
City) Marking the day of the glorious revolution that led to the blocks
that make up the Vatican the worlds smallest nation.
Somehow it's not very stirring when you say it that was is it?
Feb. 12 Red Hand Day (International) Day created to draw attention to
the fate of children who are forced to serve as soldiers The aim of Red
Hand Day is to call for action against this practice, and sup****t for
children who suffer from this severe form of child abuse. / National
Freedom to Marry Day (Gay) / Darwin Day / Happy Birthday Abraham (don't
call him Abe he hated that) Lincoln. I'm sure all you went though was
worth it for all those great, great mattress bargains that will be
offered today.
Feb. 13 Vasant Panchami (Hindu) Festival dedicated to Saraswati, the
goddess of learning.

know don't here about this idea so much any more.
Feb. 18 Cat Festival (Belgium) / President's Day (U.S.) I'm making
cupcakes in the shape of the caretaker presidents this year, anyone know
were I can get some cake molds in the shape of Buchannan or Taft?

ago today by Edison, you remember the phonograph don't you? It was what
CDs replaced, before Ipods replaced them. / Neo's call is traced by the
Matrix. / Mr. Rogers Neighborhood premiers 40 years ago in 1968.
Feb. 20 The toothpick is 136 years old this year, no really, they know
when it was patented, see it's the simple things that last, take THAT
record play, CD, and someday the Ipod!

Feb. 22 World Thinking Day or Founders Day (Scouting) Feast of
Hastseltsi (Navaho), Feast for Hastseltsi, the red god of racing. / On
this day in 1630 Popcorn is introduced by Quadquina, to the
Massachusetts Bay Colony, so in honor of it's 375th anniversary pop a
bag today! / In 1631 the first Thanksgiving is held in the Massachusetts
Bay Colony. Didn't become as popular as the later one in November.
Feb. 23 Terinalia (Roman) / Happy Birthday Dana Scully. I do hope Fox
is sane again in time for the new film this July.
Feb. 24 Dragobete (Romanian) "the Day for Lovers," The day is known as
"the day when the birds are getting engaged". Around this day, the birds
begin to assemble their nests and mate. During the day, considered
locally the first day of spring, the boys and girls pick up spring
flowers and sing together. The frozen snow still present in many
villages used to be collected and the water from it used as a magic
potion by young girls during the rest of the year. This day is supposed
to protect one from the fever which produces ****vers and illness. If the
weather allows it, girls and boys are supposed to pick early spring
plants for someone they are courting.

Feb. 29 Leap Year (a calendar near you) Tradition has it that women
may propose to men only on February 29; this is a tightening of an older
tradition that such proposals may only occur in leap years. Another
component of the tradition is that if the man rejects the proposal, he
should soften the blow by providing a kiss, one pound in cash, and a
pair of gloves. This is of course a long dead tradition as women propose
all kinds of things these days pretty much any time of the year. / In
