I left the church over twenty years ago and while I remain interested
in it historically I have no intention of ever going back. However,
the church continues to contact me and always manages to find me when
I move. (This is true whether it was a move to Germany, across
country from Calif to New Jersey and then back again, and now to where
I currently live in Midwest.) It has never been that big of a deal,
as I just ignore the letters and invitations that come (no one has
ever knocked on my door, which is a relief). My question is this:
should I ask to be removed from the church records? Do any of the
Mormons-in-good-standing have an opinion on this? Does it just not
matter or would it be the moral thing to do to ask to be removed? I
never have because it seems a rather drastic stand to take against
something I no longer believe in but do not see as doing any harm.
