Are you LDS? Why should I tell you, if indeed you are? Why do you have to
ask if you are not? Or Prophets told us that black people of African
ancestry should not be ordained. They hold that authority. If it
displeases
God, then He has the ultimate authorit. I agree with the gist of what I
think President Boyd K. Packer has explained, namely that God most often
speaks both to His prophet and to the rest of us, by the still small voice
of the Holy Spirit, and by impressions on our minds and spirits. I fully
expect you to question me for more details on that and I fully expect to
refrain from attempring to explain further other than to suggest that you
ask God the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, having a mind willing to
accept truth however much it may disagree with what you may now believe,
what He desires you to know about any question that you really believe you
need an answer to Ask Him for the wisdom to discern what is true from what
is false. If you ask in that attitude and with real intent to accept what
He
has for you and not simply try to defend your current ideas if they are
not
true, He will answer you by the Holy Spirit. But be aware that the answer
may be that you need no details at this time.
I will also remind you that God does leave us to follow general guidance
and
the ability to reason that He has endowed us with, at time.
It seems to me that the following snippet of Scripture may apply in
consiering this question.
Doctrine and Covenants 58:26 For behold, it is not meet that I should
command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is
a
slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward.
27 Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do
many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;
28 For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And
inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward.
29 But he that doeth not anything until he is commanded, and receiveth a
commandment with doubtful heart, and keepeth it with slothfulness, the
same
is damned.
If we should not have accepted that action, then Father can hold us
accountable. If the Prophets misled us, we still had a responsibility to
find out for ourselves if they were leading us right or wrong, and we have
a
share of accountability. Has this practice which ended approximately 30
years ago been the stumbling block which has kept you from acceping the
restored Gospel? We may be partly responsible for not explaining how God
operates with us. But if that is the case and you hae been prevented from
accepting the Truth by the actions of men, you will have a chance yet. Of
course if you stubbornly seek reasons not to accept the Truth, that is
your
responsibility.
