In Christianity, Judaism, and Islam there is a bias towards men.
That is, the tenets of the religion generally favor the rights of the
male over the rights of the female.
If we look at the origins of these faiths we find ( surprise) that
women and men were relatively equal.
But over the years, the place of women slipped lower and lower.
We can measure this by looking at the degree to which women are
covered.
In certain Christian sects, women wear modest dress and cover their
heads. Nuns used to be completely covered.
In Judaism, orthodox women wear modest dress and shave their heads and
wear wigs. That is so that no other man can see her hair.
In Islam, many women cover their heads and even their faces.
In the days of Solomon women did not cover their heads.
The veil was first used by the pagan Greeks who kept women secluded in
the home.
Attaturk saw clearly that to allow women to wear the veil would mean
that they became less visible in the society . He was a Muslim yet,
like the prophet, he had no desire to make women less im****tant.
The wonderful Arab poet Gibran ( a Christian) saw that by covering the
body, we make it less holy.
This is a subtle but im****tant point. I once had a Muslim woman say
"One cannot be a ****ist and be a Muslim".
Did she get that information from Allah?
Men interpret the law but do not understand it.
Women and men are equal in the eyes of God.
