Many projections see population growth as one of the most daunting
problems in the future. Of course it is always possible that some new
technological marvel will solve these problems. But it still begs the
question, is it really wise to have as many children as possible, as
many Islamic countries seem to be stressing, when you can't guarantee
the prosperity of those children? I assume this idea about having
many children can be found in Islamic teachings just as it can in many
religions, but Muslims (and some others) seem to really be stressing
it. The real question is a nationalistic one. Most nations only have
so much wealth to spread around regardless of how many people are in
it, so it follows that if there are a lot of people they are going to
be poor.
Sadly, I really get the sense that, rather than a simple religious
teaching to be fruitful and multiply, the Muslim baby boom really
comes from a need for Muslims to dominate the world at everyone's
expense.

Matt
