The background for an understanding of the Muslim teaching that permits
dissimulation, deception and lying (taqiyya) is naturally the Koran as
well
as the Hadith, in which we find Muhammad lying. In the Koran Allah appears
frankly as a deceiver, as here:
But they (the Jews) were deceptive, and Allah was deceptive, for Allah
is
the best of deceivers.S. 3:54.
And here:
Verily, the hypocrites seek to deceive Allah, but it is He who deceives
them. S. 4:142.
We are all potentially the object of Allah's deception:
Are they then secure from Allah's deception? None deemeth himself secure
from Allah's scheme save folk that perish. S. 7:99.
Worse, Allah directs men into abominations that he may annihilate them:
And when We would destroy a town****p We send commandments to its folk who
live at ease and afterwards they commit abominations therein, and so the
Word (of doom) hath effect for it, and we annihilate it with complete
annihilation. S. 17:16.
Allah is capable of perverting men:
And my sincere counsel will not profit you, if I desire to counsel you
sincerely, if God desires to pervert you; He is your Lord, and unto Him
you
shall be returned.' S. 11:34 Arberry
But how can men cope with a 'God' who deceives and proclaims that he
deceives? We can't believe a word he says, and the same goes for the
prophet of such a 'God'. The only possible position is the Judeo-Christian
one, which we find expressed in the Book of Samuel:
He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is
not
a man, that he should change his mind. 1 Samuel 15:29
Only in such a God can we entrust ourselves, our lives, and our eternal
well
being.
