What could the western world do differently

I have noticed from various critcisms about family life, crime, the UN
and so forth that there is a feeling among some Muslims that western
society is either destructive or falling apart or both.  I was
wondering what people on this forum thought that western countries
could do differently.  I know in the United States there is some
ignorance of foreign cultures and this might affect foreign policy.
However, this does not appear to be the case in some parts of Europe.
Short of 'becoming Muslim' what could these countries do differently?
