This is true, but see below.

And chose them to or for what? I ask this because you seem to assume that
'chose' is used absolutely, without a complement. But despite your chosen
translation, it is _hard_ to construe this in the Greek -- if not
impossible.

No, rather, we are _chosen_ TO BE holy and w/o blame etc. So the
complement is a
complementary infinitive, "to be".

So what has this got to do with the topic of the thread? It means that we
are
not chosen just to believe, nor just because we believe; we are chosen in
Him to
be holy etc. So if we only believe, but are not holy and blameless, then
we are
not the chosen he is talking about in this verse.

I make this point because there are those who sincerely believe that they
are
saying when they say the believe, yet are still resisting this choosing.
