John 3:13 "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from
heaven,
that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 "And as Moses lifted up the
serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15
"that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (NKJV)
The order is first believe, and then have Eternal Life. Not the opposite
as
Ethan speculates.
Really these verses need quite a bit of change to sup****t your position.
Let's try it.
No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is,
the
Son of Man who is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the
wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever has
Eternal Life may believe in Him and not perish but be saved. For God so
loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever has
Everlasting Life (i.e., in Ethan's order, been regenerated) may believe in
Him and not perish but be saved.
This is a travesty. This is WORSE than the perversion of Scripture that
Satan used to deceive Eve.
But this is what is necessary for the order that Ethan has proposed to be
sustained.
