Dear Kent,
When you say "that is not how we have been discussing this issue", you
are actually speaking for yourself. I have never discussed it in any
other way, because that is my understanding. The unit of Ruhi Book 1
on the life of the spirit starts out with this paragraph which is a
distillation of concepts from the Writings:
"The soul has its origin in the spiritual worlds of God. It is
exalted above matter and the physical world. The individual has his
beginning when the soul, coming from these spiritual worlds,
associates itself with the embryo at the time of conception. But this
association is not material; the soul does not enter or leave the body
and does not occupy physical space. The soul does not belong to the
material world, and its association with the body is similar to that
of a light in a mirror which reflects it. The light which appears in
the mirror is not inside it; it comes from an external source.
Similarly, the soul is not inside the body; there is a special
relation****p between it and the body, and together they form a human
being."
This distillation is what I believe from my own reading of the Baha'i
Writings. This is, and always has been, where I'm coming from with
this. This basic difference of opinion -- does the soul originate in
this world, or does it come from the world's of God and is a visitor
here -- would shed a very different light on how one views the
subject.

Since you are the one taking a break, I would say it would seem that
you have had enough of this discussion. I never said that or thought
it. Have a nice break.
Best wishes,
Suzanne
