It seems to me that if we are to say that being a Covenant Breaker is a
spiritual disease, but we all have spiritual diseases, what it says is
about
being a Covenant Breaker is notsomuch.
The larger point is that interpretation of our Writings is not a
word-for-word exercise. In context I believe the Writings are clear that
the "disease" or "poison" that we have labeled "Covenant Breaking" is not
a
specific "poison" or "disease". The point is that Covenant Breaking is
*like* a disease that is spiritual, not physical. It is *like* a poison
for
the soul.
I believe that the Writings are exceedingly clear on this subject since
there is no specific diagnosis, no other specific disease or poison that
is
spiritual.
So if Covenant Breaking is a "disease" then what is the cause? What is
the
cure? If we all have spiritual diseases, what are the causes and cures of
them? If we have no spiritual doctors to catalog and diagnose spiritual
illnesses then these diseases are better viewed as simile until the
catalog
exists. I believe this was the intent according to my interpretation of
the
Baha'i Writings on the subject.
