Covenant Breakers

One other minor point about covenant breaker materials for everyone
since it has been brought up here,

First these are people that the Universal House of Justice has
identified as Baha'is who recognize the truth of Baha'u'llah position
but are choosing to actively undermine the faith.  The reason we don't
read their writings (and avoid contact with them as much as possible)
is that their condition is a spiritual disease that is contagious.
Voluntary contact is dangerous.  Baha'is sometimes feel they can help
one of these people and engage them in discussions or study their
writings to understand them and talk them out of their position.  This
is very dangerous to us as we are very likely to lose our faith.  That
is the reason for avoiding them.

Baha'is working in protection (counselors, auxillary board members and
assistants for protection) may be required to contact possible
covenant breakers to investigate them for the House.  They may also
have to interview covenant breakers who are claiming to have reformed
themselves.  They need our prayers for their protection.  It is
possible that Susan has done some of this, I am not sure.  She said
that as a religious scholar she sometimes has to read their materials
so we should pray for her protection.

I would not forbid anyone from reading covenant materials.  What
individuals do is their responsibility in the Baha'i Faith.  I might
recommend reading what our central figures and institutions have told
us about this subject before going forward with a research project
though.
