The former pastor of the First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City -
accused of attempting to ***ually assault a woman at his Midvale home
- resolved the case this week by pleading to a lesser charge.
Scott Weisser, 52, was charged in 3rd District Court with
attempted rape, a first-degree felony, and class B misdemeanor assault
in connection with the alleged March 16 attack.
He pleaded no contest this week to ***ual battery, a class A
misdemeanor, and pleaded no contest to the assault count. Judge
Stephen Roth placed Weisser on probation for 18 months, giving him
credit for 30 days in jail he had already served.
