Well, it is patently false. Any scientist is free to publish their views 
if they have good scientific evidence for them. To say otherwise is to 
slander the scientific system.

They are not. Latter day creationists are no threat to science or 
scientists, but they are to education. If their lies are accepted by 
those in power, then we may end up with scientifically illiterate 
children and descend back into the Dark Age of unreason. That is quite a 
serious threat which should be taken seriously by everyone. We must keep 
the teaching of science quite separate from the teaching of religion.
