Kit,
I can't find any direct answers to your questions in the Bible, but
perhaps the Devil and his demon army so love bloodshed and sadism etc,
that they are going to enjoy themselves as long as they can.
Recall the account when Jesus drove the demons out of two men, and the
demons asked to be cast into a herd of swine. They then forced the
swine to fall off a cliff. They apparently got some kind of perverse
pleasure from the terrified animals as they fell to their deaths into
the sea. (see Mt 28-32)
True, Satan probably knows the scriptures showing his eternal end. So
what hope does he have? Perhaps he believes his own lies. For example,
he called God a liar at Ge 3:3-5. Thus if he hopes that God lies, then
he might believe his fate is not sealed, like God has said.
At any rate, all we can do is speculate since the Bible does not go
into such details. What Christians can be sure of, is that God's word
is "truth" (Joh 17:17) and that:
"...not one word of all the good words which the Lord your God spoke
concerning you has failed; all have been fulfilled for you, not one of
them has failed." (Jos 23:14; NASB)
