Depends what you mean by 'basic algebra' - I have taught it to Year 9
Advanced level and have worked out one problem at HSC Level that the
Evening College tutor could not do - I had to work on it for some time
though!

The ancient peoples may have been healthier than modern day humans on
the whole - the Bible gives datings to about 900 years prior to the
Flood and a reduction after the Flood of up to 100 years.
Doubling rates are slow up to 100 years from 2 to 128 =3Dlittle less
than 6 generations; from 128 to 1024 =3D a little more than 3
generations; from 1024 to 10 000 =3D less than 3.5 generations (all
calculations only approximate).
It would seem to me that statistics given to HSC students in my
previous posting could be based on the conjecture that the original
humans must have been subject to many diseases - but what would be the
evidence for that? .
