I can't think of another profession that would publically deride some
fundamental aspect of it. Certainly not the police, fire brigade,
medical profession, etc., Imagine if the Chief of the local Fire Brigade
told a joke on the six o'clock news about someone's house burning down.
Wouldn't we think that was rather strange and inappropriate? and not to
mention insulting and offensive!

Yes, makes you think, doesn't it. One things for sure.. the christian
ministry these days doesn't enjoy the respect it once had. (and
deserved?) Maybe the clergy should think on that.
