Alchemy was a serious study in his time. It would have been a
wonderful discovery to find a way of making all metals turn to gold.
Sir Isaac Newton was one of many who tried to find a way to do it.
Eventually it was realised that the search was impossible..

Nonsense of the highest degree. The word 'Australia' is not found in
the Bible,
but we know it exists.
Because gravity exists and is termed 'a theory' doesn't mean that
evolution termed 'a theory' is proven.
There are various meanings for the term 'theory' from the way it is
used in music as the facts of musical notation which enables a tune to
be written and read by the singer or instrumentalist
to meaning 'hypothesis' - ideas that are set up for experimentation to
determine whether they are right or wrong.
It is a pity that in English some words are used with a variety of
meanings, but that may never alter. It is im****tant to establish the
meaning within the context so that correct comprehension can be
obtained.
