25 days to Pentecost - 16th May 2008

JUDGEMENT 25

Ex 22: 21 Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye
were strangers in the land of Egypt.

My comments:

A stranger living among us should be helped the same way we would help
one of our own people who has become poor:

Leviticus 25:35 And if your brother becomes poor and is not able to
make a living, then you are to keep him with you, helping him as you
would a man from another country who is living among you.

At harvest time, some grain was left round the corners of the field,
so the poor and the stranger could collect it with dignity and have
plenty during their time of hard****p.

Lev 19:9 And when you get in the grain from your land, do not let all
the grain be cut from the edges of the field, or take up what has been
dropped on the earth after the getting in of the grain.
10 And do not take all the grapes from your vine-garden, or the fruit
dropped on the earth; let the poor man, and the man from another
country, have these: I am the Lord your God.

Even having the temple in Jerusalem did not protect the Jews from
captivity and from being put out of the land of Israel because of
their neglect to keep God`s judgements.

Even though a physical temple was in the land, when their deeds were
evil God took them away from their land =96 because they did not judge
correctly according to God`s law, because they were cruel to the
strangers living among them, because they killed good innocent people
and allowed paganism into their religion.

If they had amended these things, and kept God`s commandments, he
would have let Israel live in their land for ever. As it was, they
followed Ephraim into captivity.

Jer 7:1 =B6 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2 Take your place in the doorway of the Lord=92s house, and give out
this word there, and say, Give ear to the word of the Lord, all you of
Judah who come inside these doors to give wor****p to the Lord.
3 The Lord of armies, the God of Israel, says, Let your ways and your
doings be changed for the better and I will let you go on living in
this place.
4 Put no faith in false words, saying, The Temple of the Lord, the
Temple of the Lord, the Temple of the Lord, are these.
5  For if your ways and your doings are truly changed for the better;
if you truly give right decisions between a man and his neighbour;
6 If you are not cruel to the man from a strange country, and to the
child without a father, and to the widow, and do not put the upright
to death in this place, or go after other gods, causing damage to
yourselves:
7	Then I will let you go on living in this place, in the land which I
gave to your fathers in the past and for ever.
