Eighth judgment
EIGHT: Ex 21:20
20 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he
die under his hand; he shall be surely punished. {punished: Heb.
avenged}
21 Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be
punished: for he is his money.
Violent anger which could cause the death of a slave can be punished
if the slave is killed instantly.
However, the slave owner has no incentive to kill his slave, because
the person is working for him to make him money. So if the slave is
not killed instantly his master will want him restored to health if he
can.
