FIFTH JUDGEMENT=AC=AC
THE MAXIMUM PENALTY FOR KIDNAPPING IS DEATH
Ex 21:16 -
And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his
hand, he shall surely be put to death.
My comments:
Kidnapping a person can carry the death penalty under God`s law. This
applies whether the person is found with the kidnapper, or has already
been
sold to someone else.
Joseph`s brothers kidnapped him (after originally intending to kill
him, except for Zebulun), and then sold him to be taken as a slave
into Egypt. God allowed this situation to work out for good
eventually as Joseph provided a place for his father`s family in Egypt
during times of great famine.
However, Joseph still had a right to apply the death penalty to most
of his brothers and God put them into his power when he was president
of Egypt, at which time he could have put them in prison and taken
their lives if he had chosen. He heard them talking in Hebrew when
they came to Egypt to ask him for grain, and he could tell they had
repented long ago for their sin towards him. Judah was even willing
to give his life to save Benjamin (the other brother from Rachel -
Joseph`s mother).
So his brother`s lives were spared, except for God putting sickness on
them before they died.
KIDNAPPING OF AFRICANS INTO SLAVERY
Other examples of kidnapping exist in the modern world, which again
did not go unpunished by God. Britain and America were involved in
the slave trade in which africans were abducted from their villages in
Western Africa and transported in cruel conditions to slavery in
Carolina and Virginia in the United States.
Those who prospered on account of this kidnapping were later involved
in a bloody civil war in America in which many were killed.
