I'd like to invite you to a discussion
on my forum:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Mambo_Racines_Vodou_Forum/message/6430
.... a contributor on my forum asked,
more or less, if African Dias****an
religion is reserved for those who have
African biological ancestry, and if
Haitian Vodou is only for Haitians or
"people with Haitian connections [not
white people from the USA with no
real connection to Haiti or to Africa?]"
I have made a short response on my
forum but I don't want to dominate the
discussion, and so I am inviting the
worthy Contributors to this forum
to visit. Here is the response I made,
you may agree or disagree of course.

Here we go again.
Go to a Christian church and look
around. Now remember, Christianity
was nurtured in the Middle East,
and Jesus of Nazareth was a Palestinian
Jew. Do most of the people in
Christian churches these days belong
to those ethnic groups?
In fact the strength of Christianity,
what made it a world religion, was
the "go ye into all the world",
and "before God there is neither
Jew nor Gentile", all that stuff.
If I pointed at a black Episcopalian
minister and hissed, "He doesn't
belong here!", you would correctly
identify that remark as suggestive
of racism, right?
Stop and think about this stuff
clearly, outside the racial hysteria
of the USA.
Then go further - EVERY country has
Crossroads, Cemetery, Twins,
Ocean, Big Woods... that's
Carrefour, Cemetiere, Marasa,
La Sirene, Grand Bwa!
I will entertain ALL points of view on
this question, as long as people are
resepctful of each other.
Peace and love,
Mambo Racine
