Hola to Denise and Eoghan!
I am writing this from Google Groups. I have been reading the older
postings. Thanks to Denise, I finally got a sensible English
translation of the prayers.... Remember this, Denise?
"Alafia,
For anyone who has ever tried to sit through a misa - using the English
version of Kardec's prayers - finally there is a coherent version of
his selected prayers available for non-Spanish speaking devotees.
For years I've only used the Spanish version - even though my
Spanish is rough - because the English translation that has been
around for a long time sent me into fits of giggles (in the middle of
misas) - it was so badly done.
Several years ago - at a spiritual mass, it was suggested to a
friend, that she do a comprehensible version - since she is fluent in
English and Spanish - and is an Espiritista/Iyalorisha.
It took quite a while for her to clear the publication rights, but she
used the draft version at a mass I attended - and my English speaking
only godchildren could
finally follow the prayers.
It is now available at several online booksellers - Amazon, Barnes &
Nobel among them.
Check it out!

I believe that it was time for me to get the English book as after
reading the current one, I was giggling my way thru the misa. Even the
leader compare the early english translation and had to strifle her
giggles. My Spanish is not all that great, despite the fact that my
family heritage is Spanish. *Groan*. Just went online to get the book
and well, brought the last one in stock. How's that for good fortune,
huh... Thanks, Denise, for the head up. Can't wait to get it.
Fran
PS... It has been quite a while... No longer "half a priest"... You
probably know what that means. Got my "confirmation" this year. And
things have been rolling fast forward ever since. Too many coincidences
have been happening to me to be... well, coincidences. Will try to keep
up with the group, even tho there are too many nonsensical posting
about Jesus, God and other non-related, nonsenical subjects.
