What's new: 'More Amazing Mormon World Records'
Thursday, April 17, 2008
Paul B. Skousen continues to chronicle Latter-day super feats.
"The Skousen Book of More Amazing Mormon World Records" is a follow-up
to 2004's "The Skousen Book of Mormon World Records." The updated
version, released earlier this month, furthers Skousen's effort to
present "the astoni****ng, the amazing, and the unbelievable
achievements of Latter-day Saints from all around the world,"
according to a news release.
The book's criteria say that the subject of the record, fact or feat
"must be, or have been, a member of the LDS Church," although church
activity is not considered.
The new publication follows the same format as the original, packed
with concise entries and accompanying photos. The updated version is
about half the size of Skousen's first offering.
Skousen, a former CIA agent who also worked in the White House during
the Reagan and George H. W. Bush administrations, covers subjects such
as politics, Scouting, families, music, church callings, business and
s****ts.
Entries include "most wedding bouquets caught" (35 by Jamie Jackson of
the Hidden Valley Stake in Utah) and the world's largest snowball (5
feet high by the Benton Harbor Ward in the Kalamazoo, Michigan
Stake).
Also among the more than 300 entries are the old record for longest
walk over a bed of hot coals, the largest produce sticker collection,
the smallest carved nutcracker, the farthest marshmallow nose blow and
the best LDS liar on a TV game show.
Readers will also find out how entertainers Neil Diamond and the Beach
Boys made their way into this book, and what may have been the first
football score ever announced from the pulpit of the Salt Lake
Tabernacle.
Skousen is also the author of "Brother Paul's Mormon Bathroom
Reader" (2005). For more on his collection of records, visit

Records" is published by Cedar Fort.
