I haven't managed to catch them with TMBG, or at all for that matter,
but they used to be based in Seattle. Then they left for the East coast
and gave an interview (either just before leaving or just after) where
the father exploded into some whinging rant about the Seattle scene.
I'm unclear on the details, if I my understate the obvious.
But from what I hear, it's nearly on par with Garrison Keillor roasting
Minnesota following his "permanent" departure to-- and you-know-who may
correct me on this-- Finland. He returned after a couple years and
everyone pretends it never happened, even though there are still
tremendously hard feelings between Minnesota Public Radio and Keillor.
So too, I assume, are there hard feelings between Seattle and The Father
Trachtenberg.
25 years from now, this band concept will be repeated by a cor****ate-
rock band in suits that finds old powerpoint presentation.
That said, I give you John Linnell, interviewing John Flansberg:
-----
JL: Is there some way the whole band could actually tour
with suits or is that impossible?
JF: I know they'd be impossible to clean... I have felt
good about the couple of "suit" shows we've done. There is
something really edgy about the whole band wearing suits.
It's like we're from another planet- the PLANET OF MEN!
