While I never went in one bit for fantasy or RPG stuff, the sci-fi
equivalent of this game must be "Cosmic Encounter," a game which I'd buy
right away except that it doesn't make sense to own one unless you have
3-5 geek friends to play it with you all the time. Get a bunch of geeks
together, though, and it's boardgame crack. I learned it from friends
in the dorm 10 years ago, and it did have a learning curve, but it also
had a well-considered ruleset that was able to solve most of our
conflicts with a modi*** of loud yet friendly argument.
