I had a similar experience the other day, when a local station decided
to try a new song on its listeners, to see if they'd stand to hear it in
rotation. The song was "Stacy's Mom" by, I quote, "Foundations of
Wayne."
The listeners hated it, which is how I know I'm not yet old. Liane
Hansen, on NPR's WESUN, liked it, though, and said that Fountains of
Wayne had revived the art of the perfect three-minute pop song.
