Armageddon transformed into a grim fairy tale

by "Precision" <precision@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 9, 2008 at 03:30 AM

The young boy plops into a large feather bed amongst a sea of teddy bears.

"Read me a bedtime story!" he entreats he mom. "Keep reading the one we
left
off last week about Armageddon!"

"But you had nightmares dear" she cautiously says.

"It was way cool!" he exclaims and like every good theocratic mom she
caves
in.

"Why of course darling" she coos gently, taking a book off the young boy's

shelf filled with Dr. Seuss and other delightful children's fairy tales.

Turning to the end of the book, she sits next to him and slowly begins
reading.

"It was month two and bulldozers were shoveling bodies into mass graves
around the clock..."

This is an exaggerated dramatization of a typical bedtime scene that
ex-Jehovah's Witnesses would have you believe is played out repeatedly and

quite tragically in young children's bedrooms around the world.

In fact, many individuals latched on to past deadlines for Armageddon that

passed without even a storm cloud or lightning bolt in most cases. The
last
big date was 1975. Leading up to that year those who wanted a 'ticket to
paradise' quit their jobs and 'pioneered on plastic' as one industrious
sister called it. They maxed out credit cards and personal loans believing

the debt would simply disappeared as the banking institutions crumbled
after
a 'worldwide destruction' in 1975.

As the late 1970's passed many of these Armageddon speculators declared
bankruptcy, lost their homes and became embittered, many living
impoverished
to this very day.

While transforming Armageddon into a grim fairy tale many Christians
failed
to read their own Bibles and particularly, a major precedent set by God in

the book of Jonah.

Reading the book of Jonah in the Bible's Old Testament reveals the
startling
truth that God will gladly 'cancel' a planned extinction event for a city,
a
region or the entire world. God takes no pleasure in destroying a single
person, let alone wiping out a region or entire planet's surface of the
life
He created.

If you do not believe me then reread the book of Jonah and ask yourself if

the cancelled destruction is not a corollary of a future time, and that
time
is now, when God would face a similar decision as the generation in 'the
time of the end' became like the Biblical city of Nineveh that was
absolutely prophesied to be DESTROYED and was not.

Why not?

God changed His mind, seeing no point to wiping out impoverished and
pathetic people.

Certainly after going through the trouble of sending Jesus Christ to Earth

and allowing Jesus to die for the sins of mankind, He is not about to
commit
the petty act of crushing a civilization of people more fragile than a
little girl's collection of porcelain dolls? His son just died for them.

The book of Revelation if read in the context of Jonah, is a 'what if?'
scenario as conveyed by its writer. An alternate timeline of a future to
never come, a future misunderstood to be meted out by a vengeful God will
turn out just as the foretold prophecy of Nineveh's destruction in the
book
of Jonah. That future as a result of Christ's death and proclaiming that
'it
is finished' was transformed from darkness into light by God who so loved
the world. Always remember: God transformed Nineveh's destruction from
certain prophecy to nothing more than a grim fairy tale.
