When Bhava [ecstatic devotion] deepens, it becomes Prema. Bhava is of
three kinds [1] Sthaayi [Permanent] [2] Satvika [Pure] and [3]
Sanchari [transitory sentiments]. The Bhava which grows at the right
time and lasts till the end is called Permanent. This is of nine
kinds: [1] Rati (Love) [2] Has ya (Mirth) [2] Shoka (Sorrow) [4]
Utsaha (Energy) [5] Bhaya (Terror) [6] Jugupsa (Disgust) [7] Vismaya
(Astonishment) and [8] Krodha (Anger). In another view Shanta is the
ninth Bhava. Satvika Bhava is of eight types: Perspiration,
Immobility, Trembling, Choked Voice, Colorlessness, Tears and U
nconsciousness. Sanchari Bhava is of thirty three types [1] Repentance
[2] Tiredness [3] Fear [4] Finding faults in others [5] Pleasure [6]
Labour [7] Laziness [8] Miserliness [9] Thinking [10] Ignorance [11]
Remembrance [12] Understanding [13] Shame [14] Unsteadiness [15]
Delight [16] Getting Bhava [17] Want of enterprise [18] Patience [19]
Pride [20] Sadness [21] Eagerness [22] Sleep [23] Epilepsy [24]
Senselessness [25] Dread [26] Not to forgive [27] Consolation [28]
Concealment of form [29] Rudeness [30] Argument [31] Disease [32]
Death and [33] Purity.
In the body of the Bhakta all the three Bhavas appear. Pralaya
signifies Bhava Samadhi [trance due to excess of ecstatic devotion].
As soon as Satvika Bhava deepens, Jyoti and Nada appear. Gurudeva has
asked me to follow the path of Bhakti Sadhan. Whether I got any
Anubhuti (experience) or not, I obey his orders and go on singing
Naam. If one goes on chanting Naam with such determination, the
Satvika Bhava is bound to come. When the Satvika Bhava deepens, it
develops into Prema. When Prema appears, the whole universe becomes
one with God.
If one can hold on to Naam, all the Bhavas come of their own. Mukti,
Bhakti, Prema and Bhagawan start dancing around the singer, keeping
him in the centre.
