Why isn't so obvious that God exists that any contrary position is totally

untenable? That's a real question, and one answer is "there is no God".

However it is not the only answer. If we saw God face to face then there 
would be no distinction between morality and prudence, for instance.

So you can have "evidence", but not necessarily "proof".
Objective evidence - we'll agree that the Church exists, and is an 
objectively real institution. Verifiable evidence - you ought to be able
to 
verify that the Church in fact exists. Evidence for God? That's up to you.

Do you think it is plausible that this institution was founded by a god?
