That is exactly what Midwinter is objecting to (as I understand, and I 
agree) .. turning lack of evidence into an assertion of non-existence. And

the equally invalid assertion the lack of evidence implies existence . 
Without evidence, all we can say is that we do not know.

Now.. if it is a lack of evidence where there *should* be evidence (such
as 
the lack of reference to the miraculous events around Jesus life from 
contem****ary do***ents), then that *is* something we can use as evidence. 
So there is a fairly strong basis for assuming Jesus those miraculous
events 
did not happen as described.
