I'm surprised no one has mentioned the old black&white movie (I missed
the book)
Bell Book and Candle. In it there are witches in the big city. One of
them only has
the ability to make street lights go out, which he does with a
flourish.

I've decided that when I drive by, and the street lights go out, that
they are bowing to me
in the best way they can.
