Some further reflections...
When you consider St. Paul's Letters to the Ephesians, to the Romans,
to the Corinthians... you can see that Christianity was formulated to
pander to *urbanites*. Whereas the pagan traditions were, well
literally "Pagan", ie, the Latin word for "rural". So- farm kids grew
up familiar with animal sacrifice. To them, a convenience food was
something that was already dead. I was born on a farm; I remember it;
and in time, my own kids saw me butcher animals while they were still
little, before they could be taught to think it was not a part of life.
But 'civilization' means that you didnt havta watch the butchery that
goes on for your benefit. The slaughterhouses were far away; the
butchery of warfare was also far away; and those who came back from it,
did not put you on a lap to tell you of the gore. But now, but now you
can see it on this screen for yourself. You can watch a man being
hanged in the name of "justice", whether you think it is just or not.
Up until now, civilized religion spoke from the pulpit the received
word it was given from higher authority. But before that, people talked
in the Agora, the original net, asking questions about what they heard
was going on. Nobody had the higher authority to hand down the word
which everyone was spozed to believe. They tried it with 911, but now,
slowly the corruption which produced that conspiracy is seeping out
from under the rug, and people know they have been lied to, just as
scripture has always lied to them, but they dont yet understand the
vastness of the mendacity.
But they will, and there will be a mass abandonment of Christianity and
the urban corruption which created it. A lot of them will take up what
they think is wicca or some form of paganism, without, however, having
the socialization that produced ancient witches or pagans. In the
Genealogy of Morals, Nietzsche speaks of that Christian indoctrination
which has been so pervasive that people do not even know it has formed
the way they think. Shakespeare comes to mind when he has Caesar
say:"You will have to forgive the man Mercutio; he is a barbarian who
thinks the customs of his tribe are the laws of Nature." There is much
in the Christian dogma that has formed our institutions and academic
thinking that people think are the laws of Nature.
Nevertheless, it was a consistent structure which is going to collapse
along with Christianity, and people will be cast adrift, some glomming
onto fluff bunnies in order to stay afloat. But that kind of mindframe
was never intended to withstand this kind of storm, and will get bogged
down in the reality of the sea of chaos. Screens like this will expose
the weaknesses of the steep pyramidal power structures Christians have
built to pander to the egos of their leaders, and as it does, people
will see and jump ship. And as that structure destabilizes, it will
cast others adrift. but however they got in the soup, they will be
looking for something to hang on to.
The new age cosmologies we are familiar with, that to some extent tried
to build on the old age pre-Christian traditions, was never designed to
handle the masses we have now. Nor have they really integrated the
lessons of the Net, with a flat world that no longer needs high rise
towers, nor wants these rich targets for WMD. But there are some
vertical integrators who see the ancient traditions clearly, see the
need for re-interpretation, and how to present the information, not as
from a pulpit, but as a friend over coffee.
They wont be fluff bunnies. Among other things, they will point to all
the violence done in the name of god. And note that in every case,
while the name changes, the character of an alpha male tryant, who
justifies violence in his name, does not. To the alpha male, with his
innately aggressive instincts, any name will do, and the tactics of
fluff bunnies will not prevent him from blowing them away. He does not
play nice. He is one of the laws of Nature that ancients understood.
The new spiritual leaders will point out that back during the Golden
Age of Peace, people did *not* worship a god, but the Great Earth
Mother. The resulting peace is easy to understand when you consider all
the trouble an alpha male demagogue would have trying to work up a mob
or an army by claiming that *he* speaks in *HER* name. While there may
be men who dont understand this, the women all get it. And for that
reason, the new Golden Age of Peace leaders will all be women.
But between now and then, we are in for some rough times; at some
point, women will have to begin to drag the bastards out to be shot.
That wont be a job for fluff bunnies.
