Wooden Writing Tablets in 7th Century Ireland

Several wooden writing tablets have been found in Ireland dating back to
the 
7th century CE. Here's a link to an excerpt from a book (The Archaeology
of 
Early Medieval Ireland By Nancy Edwards) discussing this topic:

The tablets have been found near Springmount Bog in County Antrim and
(two) 
in Dublin. A metal stylus was used to write on the wax surfaces.
