HOLY GROVES

Whatever the tradition1 or lack of, it is natural for the natural man
to enter2 the woods3. The Chinese would e.g. enter their magick woods
as described in the I Ching4.

UNICORN

The Unicorn is an inhabitant of the astral domain. Druids may be born
with Monoceros ascending. The Author shares this pleasant fate along
with Hydra (subprime) and Canis Minor (Bush) bordering on Monoceros
ascendant.

What is the future of astrology? The answer lies in its past!

Our5 astrological past is mostly shameful for the past 2000 years and
that alas includes European astronomers who dabbled in astrology. This
article makes avail of NOMONA SVNT ODIOSA i order to keep the
paintings of great astronomers on the walls where they belong.

Amazing as it seems we have studied the zodiac only recently with
apocalyptic implications that transcend masonry or heraldry. Some
national symbols need revision apart from the discussed6 Hydra
Monoceros Leo heraldry of Persian - British origin and the Serpens
Cauda =E2=80=93 Aquila of the American flags.

WOODCUTTER'S BIBLEWORK

The hateful destruction of the forests may find its rationale in the
biblical hate7 towards the treesi. Whether the druids revere the trees
themselves or divine forces that act through trees has to be answered
by true mind, as false ego is a loose Black & Decker.

1Often we refer to druidic tradition, but wooden faries are common
among all natural inhabitants. As a possible pun we might mention and
not only half in jest that NTR RAW or sun god or god as represented by
the sun but not being mere sun etc could be rendered as NATVRA or
nature.
2To enter the forest in a ritual way, to be self-initiated or
initiated by the forest. The sky and the sea are compatible forests as
representations of omniverse, e.g. Nuit, Tao.
3The forest is of course not only the visible realm as vulnerable by
chainsaw. Cutting trees is surely a great sin not to be redeemed by
the simple adherence to selected or scrambled daily bible principles.
Christianity assumes it can take as much of the Book of Moses as it
suits it, much as self-employed reverends and laymen quota, assume,
judge, and finally trespass all codex, particularly the law of nature.
When to cut men and cattle such as in Jericho was glorious next to as
harlot intelligence, to cut trees seems natural.
4For ||:::: see I Ching Aspectarian.
5Who are we? We are Europeans, Greece including. The Egyptians had no
shameful astrological past at all, apart from Greek distortions in the
decaying phase, that may include Denderah.
6Lion and unicorn featured in the breakthrough Last Unicorn research
on the royal British lineage. British heraldry and even American
masonic symbolism could account for secret astrological knowledge. In
that case we assume that Aquila is the ascendant of the U.S.A., much
as Britain is involved with Hydra, Leo and Monoceros.
7There is no hate in the Bible, at least against the trees, normally,
but a warning against tree wor****p when one forgets the principles
behind the wor****p, that is the Tao. In order to express the Tao of
the trees one uses the trees. Dendrophilia may issue where one forgets
the creator while adoring the created. The adoration of one's own
doings is one of the childhood sins of reality rendering.

 Revised
Version (British and American) =E2=80=9Ca tamarisk tree=E2=80=9D). See

ISK.

 Grove
(1.) Heb. 'asherah, properly a wooden image, or a pillar representing
Ashtoreth, a sensual Canaanitish goddess, probably usually set up in a
grove (2Ki_21:7; 2Ki_23:4). In the Revised Version the word
=E2=80=9CAsherah=E2=80=9D (q.v.) is introduced as a proper noun, the name
of=
 the
wooden symbol of a goddess, with the plurals Asherim (Exo_34:13) and
Ash*****h (Jdg_3:13).
The LXX. have rendered asherah in 2Ch_15:16 by =E2=80=9CAstarte.=E2=80=9D
Th=
e Vulgate
has done this also in Jdg_3:7.
 (2.) Heb. 'eshel (Gen_21:33). In 1Sa_22:6 and 1Sa_31:13 the
Authorized Version renders this word by =E2=80=9Ctree.=E2=80=9D In all
these=
 passages
the Revised Version renders by =E2=80=9Ctamarisk tree.=E2=80=9D It has
been =
identified
with the Tamariscus orientalis, five species of which are found in
Palestine.
(3.) The Heb. word 'elon, uniformly rendered in the Authorized
Version by =E2=80=9Cplain,=E2=80=9D properly signifies a grove or
plantation=
.. In the
Revised Version it is rendered, pl., =E2=80=9Coaks=E2=80=9D (Gen_13:18;
Gen_=
14:13;
Gen_18:1; Gen_12:6; Deu_11:30; Jos_19:33). In the earliest times
groves are mentioned in connection with religious wor****p. The heathen
consecrated groves to particular gods, and for this reason they were
forbidden to the Jews (Jer_17:3; Eze_20:28).

 Grove

(See ASHTORETH.) Translated rather "Asherah," the image of the
goddess. So 2Ki_23:6, where it is nonsense "Josiah brought out the
grove (Asherah) from the house of the Lord"; Manasseh had "set this
graven image of Asherah in the house" (2Ki_21:7; 2Ki_22:7; compare
Jdg_3:7). Also a "grove" could not be "set up under every green
tree" (2Ki_17:10; 1Ki_14:23; 1Ki_18:19; Exo_34:13). In Gen_21:33 it is
a different word, "Abraham planted a "grove" (eshowl) in Beersheba,"
rather "a tamarisk tree," a hardy evergreen fitted to be a memorial to
his posterity that the well was theirs.
The Asherah was upright, fixed or planted in the ground; of wood, so
that it was capable of being "cut down and burned" (Jdg_6:25-26; see
1Ki_15:13). "Maacbah had made an idol Asherah" (not" IN grove".) The
wor****p of Asherah like that of Astarte or Ashtoreth, was associated
with Baal wor****p. Astarte is the personal goddess, Ashcrah her
conventional symbol in some one of her attributes. The sacred tree in
Assyrian sculptures is similar, a symbol of the goddess of nature. The
stone "pillar" (as the Hebrew for "image" ought to be translated,
Exo_34:13) was Baal's symbol; as the wooden pillar or tree was
Astarte's (2Ki_18:4).
The attempt to combine this with Jehovah wor****p is the subject of
the prohibition (Exo_34:13). The Hebrew word translated "plain" (elon)
signifies a grove or plantation; that of Mamre (Gen_13:18), of Moreh
(Gen_12:6), of Zaanaim (Jdg_4:11), of the pillar in Shechem (Jdg_9:6),
of Meonenim (Jdg_9:37), of Tabor (1Sa_10:3). Groves were associated
with wor****p from ancient times, as the passages just quoted show.
Pliny states that trees were the first temples. Their shade, solitude,
and solemn stillness suggested this use. The superstitious abuse of
them to idolatry and licentious rites caused the Divine prohibition of
them for religious purposes; which prohibition Israel disregarded
(Jer_17:2; Eze_20:28).
Trees were also used for national assemblies (Jdg_9:6; Jdg_9:37), for
burying the dead (Gen_35:8; 1Sa_31:14). Some trees are specially-
noted: the tamarisk (eeshel) under which Saul abode in Gibeah
(1Sa_22:6); the terebinth in Shechem under which Joshua, after writing
the law of God, set up (Jos_24:26) a great stone as a witness; the
palm tree of Deborah (Jdg_4:5); the terebinth of enchantments
(Jdg_9:37 margin, (See MEONENIM); of wanderers (Jdg_6:11, (See
ZAANAIM)); 1Sa_14:2, "a pomegranate tree in Migron" (1Sa_10:3).
Tree wor****p, perhaps a distortion of the tradition of the tree of
life and the tree of knowledge (Genesis 3), may be traced in Egypt,
Arabia, Syria, Assyria, Persia, India, Thibet, Siam, China, Japan,
Ceylon, the Philippine isles. The Druids venerated oak groves (Pliny,
H. N., xvi. 44; Tacitus, Annals xiv. 30). The black priests in Africa
alone may enter the sacred groves. The Etrurians wor****pped a palm-
tree.

 Grove
 Grove.
 1. A word used in the Authorized Version, with two exceptions, to
translate the mysterious Hebrew term, Asherah, which is not a grove,
but probably an idol or image of some kind. See Asherah. It is also
probable that there was a connection between this symbol or image,
whatever it was, and the sacred symbolic tree, the representation of
which occurs so frequently on Assyrian sculptures.
 2. The two exceptions noticed above are Gen_21:33 and 1Sa_22:6,
(margin). In the religions of the ancient heathen world, groves play a
prominent part. In the old times, altars only were erected to the
gods.
It was thought wrong to shut up the gods within walls, and hence,
trees were the first temples; and from the earliest times, groves are
mentioned in connection with religious wor****p. Gen_12:6-7; Deu_11:30.
Authorized Version, "plain," the groves were generally found connected
with temples, and often had the right of affording an asylum.
