Creationist Deism (4 December 2006)

by "Daniel Daly" <xadinaomega@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Dec 3, 2006 at 02:57 PM

Hi there

About Creationist Deism

Creationist Deism asserts belief in a creator of the universe,
believing that the universe is no older than 10,000 BCE. Most deists
believe that the creator used evolutionary processes to bring about the
origins of mankind. We reject this theory, believing mankind was
created as it currently is. Creationist Deism rejects the notion that
the creator has made itself known to mankind - this is the domain of
the theistic religions. We assert that the creator has full knowledge
of the religions of mankind, but do not ascribe any divine activity to
these religions as we have no knowledge of any such activity by the
creator. In essence, we tend to reject the notion that the Creator is
the controlling force behind such religions, perhaps favouring the
notion that there are created spiritual beings that are behind the
scenes of such religions - each pursuing their own agenda. We do not
reject the notion of Angelic or Demonic forces, but generally view that
such spiritual beings serve their own purposes rather than carrying out
the will of the creator.

Creation
An article by Creationist Deist Daniel Daly

Mankind's history traces back, in the known historical records, no
further than approximately 6 to 7 thousand years ago. If mankind
evolves, as evolutionists say, there should be records of previous
civilizations older than this, as well as records of civilizations
between (and even during) the so-called ice ages. The reality is that
no such records exist.

The probable truth is that a creator or creative force brought mankind
into existence no longer than 6 to 7 thousand years ago.

Creation seems to be the most likely belief for the origin of mankind
from my perspective.

Many people reject the notion of creation because it is heavily
associated with biblical religions. As a deist I can rightly
understand their perspectives. Many commentators have stated that
religion has done more to harm and mind-control human beings throughout
history than any apparent goodness it may have brought forth. I would
also agree with that proposition.

However, simply because it is heavily associated with religious
theorists does not mean that we should outright reject the notion of a
special creation of mankind by a creator or creative force.

In the creation versus evolution argument most evolutionists point to
the huge holes, paradoxes and contradictions in the biblical account,
while creationists point, likewise, to the many unexplained and
problematic ideas associated with an evolutionary scheme. Usually both
sides attack each other, with not a great deal of listening and
sensible dialogue which, hopefully, would lead both sides to a more
rational and realistic position.

To my fellow deists, of which I could probably say 99 plus percent
would be of the evolutionary kind, as well as to all other people
reading this article, have you ever seriously considered the notion of
a creationist origin for mankind from a non-biblical perspective. If
you have not, I would encourage you to give it some thought. What
first brought me to belief in God was the theory of creation as
described in the argument from design - but this first belief was
centred around a deist (non-religious) God as well.

My fundamental point is this - deists need not automatically subscribe
to the theory of evolution simply because it gives the appearance of
being 'Scientific' as opposed to the so-called unscientific
'Creationist' theory.
