There will be a MAJOR protest on the sidewalk in front of the North
Entrance to Temple Square in Salt Lake City starting at 5pm (going
until 9pm).
AT that time the Genesis Group of Black Latter-day Saints will be
holding a "June 8th" celebration; celebrating the 30th anniversary of
the ending of the 130 year long "Priesthood-ban" which banned black
Mormons from Mormon temples and the priesthood. On June 8th 1978,
Church President Spencer W. Kimball ended the ban.
At least a dozen and possibly two dozen or more protestors will be
there, on the sidewalk, protesting and holding signs such as "WHAT IS
THE CURSE OF CAIN DOCTRINE?".
The protest is over two things:
1) The LDS Church refuses to make a public apology, apologizing to
blacks for teaching for 130 years that they are "cursed" and the
"children of Cain" and "Less valiant" in the pre-existent War in
Heaven.
2) The continuing CAMPAIGN OF DECEPTION by LDS Public Affairs, telling
inquirers, "Nope! The Church NEVER taught that blacks are cursed in
any way. We NEVER taught they were the children of Cain!"
Please join us in the protest. The news media has been informed, and
will be there. Protest posters can be made cheaply at FedEx Kinkos:
3300 South 700 East Salt Lake City.
Be there at 5pm to 9pm, Sunday, June 8th, 2008.
