despised as Jesus and His teaching's are to this day, He taught
unconditional election as the passages of Lk. 4:14-30 reveal.
completely outraged by the thought of God choosing whom He will to
be the objects of grace, apart from any good being found in those
objects as a cause moving Him there unto, the crowd of self-righteous
will worshipers assumed getting rid of the Preacher would make the
doctrine go away.
as it is to this day, anyone claiming salvation by good deeds of the
flesh, such as those professing having " made a decision for Christ, "
as if salvation is by the will of man, which it is not
( Joh. 1:12,13, ) find the doctrine of unconditional election most
repulsive.
this is because God insist's that no good thing is found in man as a
cause moving God to elect him, just as He says... " there are none
righteous, no not one... " ( Ro. 3:10-18 ) if there was a good thing
to be found in man as a cause for God to elect Him, Jesus' hearers
would not have taken up to throw Him over a cliff.
quite simply, the devices of some which go on to explain how smart
they were for choosing Christ, or keeping some of the 10 Commandments,
or doing some religious ceremony, are simply admitting they're
attendance at the synagogue where Jesus was cast out, desiring His
death at the bottom of the cliff.
such statements as " put your trust in Christ " is just another way
of seeking salvation by good works. in fact, the word ' trust ' comes
up but 4 times in the New Testament and never once as the means to
salvation... why ? because dead spirits do not initiate life in
themselves... none seek for God.
it first takes an act of God to save anyone since " salvation
belongs to the Lord " ( Ps. 3:8 ) and man's will is not in the least
involved as a cause moving God to elect him... so says the gospel of
John. ( Joh. 1:12,13 ) so says the gospel of Luke. ( Lk. 4:14-30 )
conditional election makes for the boast of the flesh. it reveals
the arrogance of heart to take the glory for the doing away from
Christ and boasts instead of man's achievement to glory by his own
doing. it leaves out all who can not make the grade they did because
of mental impairment.
these overlook the 4 Bible men who were saved as fetuses.
why did God save these 4 babies while they were still in the womb ?
simply to show the elect that salvation is unconditional, and is of
the Lord and not of man.
