Hi,
Just a Post script to my last letter.
Just an illustration to help you see the difference between "one" and
"one as a unity of many"
In Zimbabwe (At least until very recently) the Government is "one" -
it is numerically one. The leader is Robert Mugabe, and he is also
Dictator. So the leader****p is "one", numerically so. It is one
person.
In my country, New Zealand, the Government is also "one" but not in a
strictly numerical sense. We have a parliament made up of elected
representatives who are "one Government" (numerically). It is "one"
but is is made up of "many".
It is interesting that the Parliamentary system of government has its
origins in the Christian West where there was an understanding of
"One, which is also many" and this mitigates against the abuses and
control of the "Numerically One" Dictator****p type governments.
It is also interesting that Islamic countries are almost all are
straight Dictator****ps of one form or another. In truth Democracy in
an Islamic country is only a "pretend democracy", there is always One
person (numerically one) who controls it all.
The Christian doctrine of the Trinity has thus informed our political
life in the West and set us free from the tyranny of One Man
Dictator****ps.
But where this doctrine of the Trinity is denied - around the World -
people live under Dictator****ps of man - because they do not have the
philosophical and theological base which will give them the freedom to
be "free men and women under God". They do not know how to be "free"
and will always allow Tyranny and Dictator****p to rule them.
