On the cross, the Lord Jesus
bore the penalty for our sins
and became for us forever
our perfect righteousness
so that we have eternal life.
It is not our own righteousness
or a mixture of ours with Christ
that gives us eternal life,
but it is Christ taking our place,
being our perfect righteousness,
without flaw, without spot,
without blemish,
that gives us eternal life in Christ.
Anyone who comes to understand
that Jesus Christ himself is
our entire righteousness for salvation,
places all their trust on him
to be their righteousness and salvation
and receives Christ and has eternal life.
