Giving Thought to the Obvious
Day by day, we rise up and go on our way. Into the day -- or night, as
the
case may be. And sometimes we wonder, perhaps, what it all means. On
other
days, we're too busy moving, trying to keep up, to think much about
anything.
We may wonder about our own lives. We may wonder why. We may wonder and
think about a lot of things.
Hopefully, we have some answers for the questions posed by our minds.
Because even if we don't, the questions will not just go away. They will
keep circling, as long as we hold them off. They'll keep circling and
waiting, watching for a chance to land.
Let's take you, for example. Do you ever wonder about your own life? Do
you ever wonder why you are here, why you were born, why you've managed to
live this long? If so, then you already know part of the answer.
And if you will forgive the occasional appearance of chaos, you can
discover
the meaning of everything. For the rest of the story, you will need the
help of the Lord Jesus.
Find out more about the Lord Jesus, and all the things He said and did for
us, by reading the New Testament ****tion of the Holy Bible. In time, you
will also be able to learn a lot about Jesus by reading the Old Testament,
as well. But to begin with, read the Gospel of Matthew, and then the
Gospel
of John, two of the first four books in the New Testament. You might then
want to go on and read the book of Acts, and then what we now call the
"book" of Romans -- which was really a letter from Paul the apostle to
first-century believers in Rome.
But don't try to just race through the Bible, reading as fast as you can.
Instead, take your time. And always pray before you start reading -- and
also as you read -- that God will give you a real understanding of His
message and purpose.
God's Holy Spirit teaches all who will listen to God. And we all have so
much to learn about God and His ways. As the Bible itself says, God's
ways
are not our ways of thinking and doing. God's thoughts are on a whole
different level -- a much higher level. And we all need His help to begin
taking hold of those ideas and meanings. He delights to help us and teach
us good things.
And also, when you read about Jesus, don't make the common mistake of
thinking that Jesus Christ is just ancient history He is more ancient
than
the universe itself, that's true. But He's also present and active in the
world today -- present to see your life and to hear your heart's cry for
help, and active to rescue all who call upon Him.
Believe what the Bible says about Jesus, and then put your faith into
practice. Call out to Him in honest prayer. Ask Him to be your Lord and
Master (Master = Teacher and Guide), and trust Him to be your Savior (see,
for example, John 4:42, & 30:31).
God's best to you as you dare to begin a new life with Jesus Christ.
