You must venture out into life, out on the sea, and lift up your voice, 
even though God does not hear it, and not stand on the shore and watch 
others fighting and struggling. Only then does the understanding acquire 
its official sanction. To stand on one leg and prove God’s existence is a 
very different thing from going on your knees and thanking him.
