Above all, the movement wanted the same, original faith of the apostles. 
Like the first apostles and prophets, the new prophecy of Montanism wanted

to defend the ancient scripture of the law and the prophets, the New 
Testament (which was in process of being more clearly defined), and the 
gradually expanding rule of faith against all attacks and perversions.
Only 
when their meaning seemed obscure (especially in the Pauline letters) did 
the new prophecy try to clarify them through the Spirit.
