November 8
In our misery we have made a habit of crying,
"God! God!" But with very few people is there
any substance behind it, because when God
does something rather different from what they
expected, they fall away and remain down.
There is a whole flood of terminology with which
some people satisfy themselves, because it is
part of today's social etiquette to be just a little
pious. But when life comes to the point where
"their flesh and their heart may fail," then they
despair. They lose the vision of what God
already is in them. So they are unable to endure
hardship and are immediately defeated and
give up in despair.
We must come to the point where we can
experience God again and have fellowship with
him. I am not talking about any sort of theology,
but something much more real than words!
There must be deeds. Deeds are true, and we
can stand secure on them.
But do not be unduly anxious; God gives to his
children while they sleep. Keep your heart in the
right place and remain inwardly attentive,
opening your eyes when you see God working!
In that way you can experience something.

You Belong to God, Nevertheless I Will Hold to Thee.
