November 6
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life,
neither angels nor demons, neither the present
nor the future, nor any powers, neither height
nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will
be able to separate us from the love of God that
is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39
In this wonderful passage Paul wants to say
that nothing that may happen, be it saddening,
shaking or puzzling should allow us to think that
God does not love us anymore. God's love is
unshakable, firm as a rock. This love has been
proved to us through Christ and therefore
belongs to us.
The heart of our passage is contained in the
words, "I am convinced." This certainty springs
from the conviction that henceforth there is
nothing that can make us doubt God's love.
Through Christ we are certain of it.
Whoever recognizes Christ rightly can say with
Paul, "God loves me, whether I die or live! God
loves me even if the angels of Satan or
principalities or powers of darkness are against
me. God loves me, even if I am attacked by his
enemies. Whatever and whoever wants to harm
me or really does harm me, I hold to this: God
loves me!"
